Frequently Asked Questions

CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It’s an approach based on the idea that changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors can improve how children and teens feel and function. CBT is practical and skill-based—your child will learn new coping tools in session and practice them at home.

Evidence-based treatments are therapies that have been proven effective through scientific research. When we say a treatment is “evidence-based,” it means there’s strong research showing it works for the challenges your child is facing.

Payment is due at the time of each session. We accept cash, checks, and credit cards. PAC Psych is an out-of-network provider, which means we don’t bill insurance directly. However, we’ll provide you with a detailed receipt (“superbill”) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits.

If you’re seeking trauma-focused therapy and there’s a police report related to the incident, funding may be available through the New York State Crime Victims Board.

We do not accept insurance directly. Many families with out-of-network coverage are able to get reimbursed for a portion of our fees. Please check with your insurance provider to understand your benefits.
